Premium Moisture-Resistant MDF Wall Panelling Strips (Shaker Style)
Premium Moisture-Resistant MDF Wall Panelling Strips (Shaker Style)
Create timeless shaker-style wall panelling quickly and effortlessly with our pre-cut MDF panelling strips. Say goodbye to the hassle and inaccuracy of sawing MDF yourself—our precision-cut strips help you achieve a clean, professional look in a fraction of the time.
Product Features:
- Dimensions: Available in 6mm or 9mm thickness
- Size: 1100mm (L) x 80mm (W)
- Material: Moisture-Resistant MDF (Green MRMDF)
- Finish: Supplied unprimed and unpainted for full customisation
Unlike standard brown MDF, our Green MRMDF is specifically designed to resist moisture. This makes it ideal for use in kitchens, bathrooms, or any other room in the home. Standard MDF can swell or warp when exposed to moisture, leading to cracked paint and poor durability—our high-quality MRMDF prevents that from happening.
Why Choose Our MDF Wall Panelling Strips?
- Precision Machined: Consistent, clean edges—no need for cutting
- Time-Saving: Installs faster than DIY-cut strips
- Moisture-Resistant: Suitable for most indoor environments
- Versatile Style: Perfect for modern shaker-style interiors
- Made to Order: High-quality control with every order
⚠️ Note: While MRMDF resists moisture, it is not fully waterproof. For areas near baths, sinks, or splash zones, we strongly recommend applying a suitable waterproof paint or sealant after installation.
How to Fit MDF Panelling to Your Wall
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Tools & Materials Needed:
- Construction adhesive (e.g., OB1, Gripfill, No More Nails)
- Spirit level or laser level
- Masking tape
- Sandpaper
- Caulk or wood filler
- Primer and paint
- Mitre saw or handsaw (optional, if cutting is needed)
Step-by-Step Installation Guide:
- Plan Your Layout:
- Before ordering, measure your wall and sketch out your desired panel design. Use masking tape to mark out where each strip will go—this helps visualise the final result and avoid placement errors.
- Surface Preparation:
- Make sure the wall is clean, dry, and free from dust or grease. Fill any large holes and sand the surface smooth.
- Apply Adhesive:
- Apply a generous bead of construction adhesive to the back of each MDF strip. For solid walls, adhesive alone is usually sufficient. For uneven surfaces, additional fixings may be required.
- Position and Press:
- Place each strip carefully onto the wall using a spirit level to ensure they’re straight. Press firmly and hold for a few seconds to ensure good contact.
- Fill Gaps and Joints:
- Once all strips are applied and secure, use a suitable filler (like OB1 or caulk) to fill any joints or gaps. Allow to dry fully, then sand smooth.
- Prime and Paint:
- As the MDF is supplied unprimed, apply a suitable primer first, followed by your choice of paint. For high-moisture areas, use a waterproof or moisture-resistant paint.
